We’re Hiring – Family Lawyer – Junior to Senior Associate level
We are a specialist Sydney based family law firm, with offices in Parramatta and Surry Hills. We specialise in all aspects of family law and fertility law, with a particular focus on international surrogacy.
We are looking to add to our team a committed and enthusiastic family lawyer. The position involves working in a supportive and dedicated team, and a team who genuinely believes in enjoying their work!
Our focus is finding the RIGHT person, and that cannot be defined by the number of years in practice or your location. Long, long before COVID was a thing, our staff were working in various ways depending on their circumstances including remote working, WFH (both sporadically and regularly), and traditional in-office working. So we remain open to all possibilities for the right person.
This is a full-time position however flexible and part-time arrangements will be considered.
The role is diverse and challenging, and so to be the ‘right person’ we have a long list of requirements – hopefully, you do too to find the ‘right firm’ for you. The requirements are listed below, to which the fuzzy idea of the ‘right fit’ has to be added. For Junior Lawyers, you may not have full experience in all of the listed areas, and if so a genuine eagerness to learn is required.
Ability to represent clients from the start to the finish of a matter, including providing advice, proper proactive management of matters, and advocacy.
Advocacy experience, as we place emphasis on our lawyers as advocates which means that almost without exception we appear ourselves at all mediations and court events, except for final hearings which we brief.
Exceptional drafting skills.
A sensible and pragmatic approach to matters, ideally with the ability to ‘think outside of the box’.
Problem-solving skills with a flexible can-do attitude towards your work and the ability to think on your feet.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to display empathy.
Excellent time management and the ability to prioritise tasks and manage workflow.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and to recognise when you need to seek out help.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
A genuine interest in family law, our firm and its culture.
A commitment to excellence and continual improvement because we have demanding standards of our lawyers.
A sense of humour, because often the work is tough and this is needed to survive/thrive. And also because we are often referred to as an eccentric bunch of people!
To be considered for this role please address the above requirements in your cover letter together with your reason for choosing to work in family law and your career aspirations. All discussions and emails will be treated as highly confidential to protect your privacy.
To apply for this role, please send your resume and cover letter in Word format to our Office Manager, Tiffany Payne at email@example.com. For any queries you may have please call Tiffany on +612 96331088.
