Prior to joining Sarah Bevan Family Lawyers, Alex worked as an Associate to a Judge of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and as a lawyer in private practice. His experience working closely with the judiciary means Alex has unique insight as to how litigated matters flow through the court system and the factors relevant to judicial decision-making. Having seen the impact on families up close in the Court, he encourages early resolutions where possible.
Alex’s lived experience informs his trauma-informed practice when it comes to advising clients on family law issues as he understands how difficult these disputes can be. His passion is in helping others and he understands that justice achieved on the individual level flows on to advance community outcomes. Alex balances this ethos with being pragmatic and realistic in his advice.
Background
Alex was awarded a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales. He then completed his practical legal training at the HIV/AIDS Legal Centre and received his Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law. He is an admitted solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, and is registered onto the High Court of Australia roll of practitioners.
Alex has broad experience across immigration law, criminal law, wills & estates and civil litigation but finds his calling in family law. He enjoys assisting families with both parenting and financial issues, and has a keen interest in surrogacy and fertility law.
Beyond work Alex enjoys cooking, reading fiction novels, going to the theatre, and thinking about where he’ll travel next (and what he’ll be eating there).
