The difference with a Paralegal and Legal Assistant

So you’ve engaged with a Family Law Firm, who will be dealing with your family law matter?

You will be assigned with a Family Lawyer who is both qualified and experienced to deal with your family legal issue.

However, behind every successful lawyer are usually some very clever Paralegals and Legal Assistants.

Paralegals and Legal Assistants perform similar duties within our firm. There is some overlap in skills between a Legal Assistant and a Paralegal. However, a Paralegal is a person who is qualified through education or training to perform substantive legal work under the guidance and supervision of a Lawyer.  Such legal work may involve performing legal research and drafting documents.

A Legal Assistant’s work is more administrative.

Both a Paralegal and Legal Assistant will have a substantive role in your matter as they work closely with the lawyer.
